Karen Bonewald

Karen Bonewald was named vice president for finance and administration and treasurer of Colby-Sawyer College in May 2018 and oversees Financial Services, Human Resources, Facilities, Information Technology, Campus Store, Lethbridge Lodge and Dining Services. With nearly 24 years of service, Karen began her career at the college as assistant controller in 2001, promoted to business manager in 2002 and to controller in 2004.

Prior to Colby-Sawyer, she was employed by Oliver Wight in New London and Employment Connection Specialists (ECS) in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in business management with honors from New Hampshire College (now Southern NH University) and an MBA with honors from Plymouth State College.

Karen served as a trustee at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH for nearly 15 years from 2009 -2024 serving as Chair of the Finance Committee, Investment Management Committee, Audit Committee, and Executive Leadership Committee.

Karen also serves as the Asst. Treasurer for the Town of New London.

Karen resides in New London with her husband, their Bernese Mountain dog, Oscar. She enjoys time with her grown children, who also reside in New London, spending time on Lake Sunapee, reading and walking as often as possible.
