We are pleased to welcome pediatrician Lara Wheeler, MD, as the director of the New London Medical Group and as a member of our Pediatric Primary Care provider team at New London Hospital (NLH).
She has dedicated her career to the care of children in communities throughout New Hampshire. Lara served as a general pediatrician at Monadnock Community Hospital for 23 years. Most recently, she was the sole pediatrician at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) HealthFirst in Franklin and Laconia.

Lara pursued her education in Virginia, graduating from the College of William and Mary and Eastern Virginia Medical School. She then returned to her native New England to complete her pediatric residency at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.
“I love being back in a community hospital and am excited to take care of the children and families in New London and the surrounding areas,” Lara says. “I am a passionate advocate for families as caregivers— both in their home lives and at daycare and school. My goal is to empower families to be strong advocates for their children and for children to be strong advocates for themselves.”
Lara cherishes her time with her adult sons and enjoys cooking, knitting, playing golf and spending time with family, friends and cats.
