New London, NH –  New London Hospital (NLH), a member of Dartmouth Health, recently began the initial phases of construction on its new Surgical Care Center.

Located in the rear of the hospital, the Surgical Care Center will be approximately 40,000 square feet over two levels, adding four operating rooms, a 22-bed post-anesthesia unit and expanded central sterile processing. Additionally, upgrades will be made to supporting areas including a waiting room, materials management and a separate Surgical Care Center entrance.

“With the construction of our new Surgical Care Center, NLH is poised to meet the growing surgical needs of our community,” said Lauren Geddes Wirth, MD, President and CEO of NLH. “This expansion positions NLH as a regional leader in exceptional healthcare, by investing in critical services in a strategic area of operations for our region, and the Dartmouth Health system as a whole.”

Current surgical and endoscopy operations at NLH will remain unaffected throughout the construction, with no impact to patient care. The Center is slated to open in the fall of 2028.

New London Hospital has contracted Linea 5 Architects and Walsh Brothers Construction.
