At New London Hospital, our cancer patients receive exceptional service and support.

Having cancer and undergoing chemotherapy is a life-changing experience. Kate's experience began with a diagnosis of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in her thyroid. New London Hospital's oncology team put Kate at ease during her chemotherapy treatment. Her cancer is now in remission.

"A life-changing experience...

That's how Kate, a New London resident, refers to her cancer diagnosis. When she met with oncologist Dr. Marc Gautier at New London Hospital she felt like she was in good hands from the very beginning. After a surgical biopsy and a bone marrow biopsy, she was scheduled for chemotherapy at New London Hospital, and was naturally very apprehensive. Advanced care nurse Melissa Nelson put her at ease, explaining the procedure and what to expect and answering her questions. "I felt pampered," said Kate. "Melissa offered me a blanket, something to eat or drink and did everything she could to make me feel comfortable. She was always available to talk with me."

During her chemotherapy treatments, Kate was comforted by the presence of friends and family. Kate's cancer is now in remission and she is very grateful to the team at New London Hospital for helping her remain hopeful and positive.

A convenient option for care and treatment

New London Hospital's oncology program is part of the Regional Cancer Program of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. New London Hospital patients have a local, convenient option for cancer treatment, with access to quality care from physicians, such as Dr. Gautier, and advanced care nurses.

Our Specialty Services unit provides high-back leather-like recliners, a naturally lighted room, flat screen TVs, DVD players, and Internet connections, providing patients and their families with amenities that help pass the time during treatment. Our goal is to make what may be a difficult treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible.
