NEW LONDON, NH– New London Hospital (NLH) recently welcomed Michael Grant, MD, as a specialty provider in Urology. Grant will divide his time between Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and NLH.
Dr. Grant joined DHMC in November of 2018 after spending 5 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he completed his internship and residency. A native of Massachusetts, Grant graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2013.
Dr. Grant utilizes GreenLight Laser PVP (Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate), a procedure used in the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), which is an enlargement of the prostate gland. This laser technique is often better tolerated than the more common TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate).
“What I am most proud of is the incredible positive responses I have seen from my patients. There is nothing better than seeing a patient in follow-up from a recent operation with a smile on their face,” says Dr. Grant.
Along with the Greenlight PVP, Dr. Grant is one of only a handful of urologists in the country who can perform GreenLEP (Greenlight Laser Enucleation). For enlarged prostates, GreenLEP allows removal of a greater amount of prostate tissue while still avoiding any incisions.
