The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recognized 6 practices in the State of New Hampshire for their high immunization rates and perfect compliance to the national Vaccine for Children standards. New London Pediatrics was honored with the Excellence in Vaccines for Children Program: Childhood Immunization Initiatives. Honey Vaine, RN, pediatrics practice, accepted the award on behalf of New London Pediatric Care Center at the 2013 NH Immunization Conference in Manchester.
Each year DHHS visits practices around New Hampshire that are responsible for administering the state supply of vaccines. They conduct audits on the management and distribution of the vaccines and how well records are maintained in each practice. The success of the program at New London is due to the dedication of the entire pediatrics staff and their effort to ensure every child's record is current and that "missed opportunities" for immunization do not occur.
Vaine, a New London Hospital employee of 20 years, has been instrumental in the immunization program. She is known for her expertise in vaccine immunization and has been a valuable resource, educating and mentoring medical assistants and registered nurses at the hospital. Vaine helped create a vaccine manual for all state supplied vaccines, which has become a large educational component used throughout the practice and hospital. She was also a presenter at the Immunization Conference on site visit preparedness.
