Steven Powell, MD, MPH of NLH recently achieved an advanced certification in
medical management and was honored for his dedication and commitment to
providing quality patient care.
Dr. Powell was designated as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the
Certifying Commission in Medical Management. The Certifying Commission,
a not-for-profit corporation chartered by the American College of Physician
Executives, awarded Dr. Powell the status of CPE for his educational
achievements, demonstrated leadership and experience in medical
management. Fewer than 2,000
physicians in the world have
successfully met the established
standards to be recognized as a CPE.
In addition, Dr. Powell was honored
with the Rural Health Clinician Award
in October by the New England Rural Health RoundTable. Recipients
of this award are recognized for their leadership in bringing health services to citizens in rural New England.
They have demonstrated their commitment to providing outstanding care, are involved in their community and
have made lasting contributions to the rural health care system in New England.
Dr. Powell is Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at NLH. He holds a medical
degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA and a Master of Public Health degree from
The Dartmouth Institute. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Psychiatry at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
