Dartmouth-Hitchcock General Surgeon Joins NLH Team
A new general surgeon with Dartmouth-Hitchcock,
Dr. Meredith Sorensen, is now seeing patients at
NLH. She joins Don Eberly, MD and Sean Bears, MD
in providing general surgery at NLH. In addition to
meeting a broad range of general surgical needs,
Dr. Sorensen specializes in endocrine surgery.
Originally from Colorado, Dr. Sorensen decided to
attend Dartmouth Medical School (now Geisel School
of Medicine) in 2002. “I never imagined I would
ultimately choose to settle in New Hampshire,”
she comments. “But during the 11 years
I spent here in medical school and residency,
it became home.”
After earning her medical degree and
completing her residency at Dartmouth-
Hitchcock, Dr. Sorensen spent the past year
getting subspecialty training, completing
her fellowship in Endocrine Surgery (surgery
of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal
glands) at the University of Michigan
Hospitals in Ann Arbor, MI.
As a surgeon, I feel very fortunate
to meet people at such pivotal
moments in their lives,” stated
Dr. Sorensen. “I believe that
helping people understand
their diseases and coaching
them through their entire
surgical experience is the most important and most
rewarding part of my job.”
When not seeing patients, Dr. Sorensen loves spending
time outdoors hiking, cycling, stand-up paddle
boarding, scuba diving and skiing. She also enjoys
travel, both in the US and internationally, having
visited 46 states and 16 countries on five continents.
All of these activities are even better, she says, when
she can share them with her husband, Eric.
