The Ribbon is Cut!

As featured in our last newsletter, our new Newport Health
Center opened to patients on October 17. Almost immediately,
work began to demolish the old facility. That was quickly
accomplished, and the newly vacant portion of the property
was prepared for paving.

Then on November 29, a community ribbon-cutting was
celebrated by nearly 200 attendees. President and CEO Bruce King offered
brief remarks, as did Board of Trustees Chair Susan Reeves and Dr. Larry
Schissel. Congratulatory greetings were read from Governor Maggie Hassan
and Senator Jeanne Shaheen. It was acknowledged that it took hundreds
of people working together to make this significant dream a reality for the
people of Newport and environs, resulting in a modern medical facility that
will serve the community well for decades to come. Thanks were offered to
all involved—for charitable giving, professional contributions and general
patience during the year-long construction process.

Due to a cold drizzle, the program was held inside, with patients, donors, Bruce King, NLH President and CEO, at

outside for the unveiling of the cornerstone and the ceremonial cutting of
the ribbon, which drew enthusiastic cheers and applause. Then it was back
inside for refreshments and tours throughout the impressive building, along
with abundant praise for what had been achieved.

Our appreciation continues for all who have participated in our Building for Health project for this new
Newport Health Center. To learn more about providers and services available there, please call 603-863-4100.
