Hospital Days

Hospital Days began in 1924 by community volunteers who planned a day to engage the entire community in support of the Hospital. For years, the celebration fell on a weekday and the entire town shut down to participate in events, see the parade and enjoy the activities. The Tag Sale was an important part of the early fund raising activities that were part of Hospital Days. In 1935, the Summer Residents' Association was formed to support the Hospital and began the tradition of the Bride Doll Raffle. The Bride Doll was a special doll that came complete with a uniquely designed and sewn wardrobe by the women of the Summer Residents' Association. Competition for the winning raffle ticket was strong as residents and visitors vied to win the doll for their daughter or granddaughter.

Hospital Days is always the first full weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) of August. This year, the 86th annual Hospital Days will be held August 5-8, 2010. Events include music, midway, Family Fun Night, pancake breakfast, parade, Market on the Green, and Triathlon.
