New London Hospital announces the second Annual John H. Ohler Community Health Lecture on The Benefits of Investing in Hospice and Palliative Care. Presented by Dr. David Currow, incoming director of Palliative Medicine and Hospice Care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the lecture is free for all to attend and is scheduled for Monday, November 9 at Colby-Sawyer College.

With more than 380 publications to his name, Dr. Currow is among the top 10 most published palliative care researchers in the world. He is senior associate editor of the Journal of Palliative Medicine and serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care and the Journal of Oncology Practice. Dr. Currow also serves as the Principal Investigator on the Australian government funded Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative-the world's largest clinical trials group in palliative care-and is a co-founder of the Australian Palliative Care Outcomes Collaborative.

The John H. Ohler Community Health Lecture series is held in memory of Dr. Ohler who practiced medicine in New London from 1953 to 1988. The series is funded by New London Hospital Medical Staff to benefit both healthcare professionals and the public.
