Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Psychiatric Services for New London Hospital, Steven Powell, MD, MPH, CPE has been named to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Quality Committee. The committee is responsible for organizational efforts relating to patient safety, clinical quality improvement and quality assurance efforts at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. With a membership made up of senior quality assurance healthcare leaders, clinicians, administrators and community members, the committee works to promote, oversee, assess, monitor, measure, evaluate and set priorities for, and act upon these initiatives.
Dr. Powell will also be presenting on quality initiatives at the American College of Physician Executives Annual Meeting in Chicago. His presentation titled Quality Initiatives: Which Initiatives are Related to Finance and Compliance - and Why Does it All Matter? will be given on April 26.
Dr. Powell holds a medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia and a Master of Public Health degree from The Dartmouth Institute. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
