Ten clinical and administrative staff at NLH are participating in a 12-week project to assist New England rural hospitals with the implementation of best practices for patient safety and satisfaction. The Expedition is a program of webinars, conference calls and data reporting presented by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, a national not-for-profit organization with the goal of improving healthcare throughout the world. IHI was founded in 1991 and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The team will select one of six patient satisfaction measures and develop a work plan to improve the patient and family care experience. Data will be reported quarterly by the hospital to the New England Performance Improvement network and participating hospitals will have the opportunity to share successes and strategies. Lori Underwood, Senior Director of Quality Improvement at NLH is the Project Manager.
