Community Benefit
New London Hospital strives to live up to its non-profit mission every day by caring for community members who otherwise would have limited access to quality healthcare. FY 2010 was a financially challenging year for New London Hospital. Decreasing government reimbursement and higher numbers of patients needing financial assistance combined to impact our financial expectations.
Yet NLH never wavered from its charitable mission and its focus on quality patient care.
During FY 2010, we invested $6,789,000 in community services, charity care and financial assistance to our community. $5,900,000 of the investment was for free and subsidized patient care, including charity care, ambulance services, emergency services, primary care, mental health services and Medication Bridge.
Each year New London Hospital shares our community benefit efforts with you through its NLHA Community Benefit Report. Through health fairs, professional and community education and subsidized and charity care, we work to make a difference in our community every day.
