Gov. John Lynch participated in a Groundbreaking Ceremony on August 30, the official beginning of New London Hospital’s $21 million, 18-month building and improvement project. Gov. Lynch and Dr. Susan Lynch addressed the audience of over 200 assembled guests. Both congratulated NLH for nearly a century of service to the community and for taking steps to ensure another 100 successful years.
Bruce King, President & CEO, and William Helm, Chairman, Board of Trustees, also addressed the audience and thanked the many groups involved in bringing the hospital to this point. Bruce and Bill acknowledged the provider team, the Friends of New London Hospital, volunteers and employees for their support and dedication.
Trustees Dudley Smith and Bob Faircloth talked about community support. Dudley asked people to remember the importance of the Annual Fund. Bob announced a $7.2 million Capital campaign and said that over $4 million had already been raised. Both trustees urged the community to be as generous as possible with their support.
Following the formal agenda, various groups gathered with hardhats and shovels to be photographed breaking ground for the project, called Building Towards the Future.
